Funding Priority B – Innovative pilot projects for climate adaptation and natural climate protection

Background
Like many other cities, the city of Hof faces the challenge of climate-resilient urban development. In this context, Hof University of Applied Sciences is working on the project "Verbund-ANK-DAS-B.1: Adapted Land-Use Planning for Water-Sensitive Neighborhood Development in the City of Hof," which focuses on water-sensitive neighborhood development. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and runs from March 1, 2025, to August 31, 2027. Funding is provided under the guidelines for "Measures to Adapt to the Consequences of Climate Change" and is administered by the project management agency Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH. The project's significance is underscored by the collaboration of various experts; the Kompetenznetzwerk Wasser und Energie e.V. and M&S Umweltprojekt GmbH are contributing their expertise alongside Hof University of Applied Sciences.
Objectives
The project pursues a holistic approach to developing future-proof urban districts, using the Trappenberg development area in Hof as a concrete example. The focus is on creating an innovative urban land-use plan intended to serve as a model for future urban development projects.
In collaboration with the project partners, a comprehensive concept is being developed that:
defines a new urban land-use planning process (Phase 0),
utilizes the multi-level analysis method developed at Hof University of Applied Sciences, and
integrates structure-based solutions to create multifunctional, resilient urban districts.
A particular emphasis is placed on developing innovative concepts for stormwater management, covering everything from collection, conveyance, and storage to infiltration. The overarching goal is to create multifunctional, resilient urban districts that can serve as a model for sustainable urban development.
