The following lecturers began their new roles at Hof University of Applied Sciences in the 2020/2021 winter semester:
Prof Dr Christian Groth
Born in Tirschenreuth, Prof Dr Christian Groth took over the Chair of Applied Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Computer Science in September 2020.
From 2004 to 2010, he completed his bachelor's and master's degree in applied computer science in Bayreuth, specialising in robotics and embedded systems, and worked as a research assistant for over five years. He began his doctorate at the Chair of Robotics and Embedded Systems in 2010. He conducted research in the field of artificial intelligence and learning systems. "Specifically, it was about how robots can be taught different tasks by demonstration and how they can apply this knowledge to new situations," says Prof Dr Christian Groh.
In 2015, he completed his doctorate and began working as a specialist for driver assistance systems at Hamm AG. In 2016, he became project manager for the development of various intelligent and networked systems before being appointed deputy head of the electronics and software development department in 2019.
Prof Dr Heike Markus
Prof. Dr Heike Markus is Professor of Digital Management with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and has taken over the management of the Master's degree programme in Digital Transformation at Hof University of Applied Sciences.
She has several years of experience in strategy development and long-term planning at Munich Airport. Here she used predictive analytics and simulation modelling to use data to predict the impact of strategic decisions on the company as a whole. She has many years of experience in global industrial companies specialising in integrated planning and control, supply chain management and advanced analytics. She studied business informatics at Hof University of Applied Sciences and completed her doctorate at the University of Bayreuth.
Prof Günter Müller-Czygan
Prof. Günter Müller-Czygan took up an endowed professorship on water infrastructure at the Faculty of Engineering on 1 October 2020.
He will lecture on the planned international Master's degree programme "Sustainable Water Management" and the Bachelor's degree programme "Environmental Engineering" as well as head the research group "Water Infrastructure and Digitalisation", which is based at the Institute for Water and Energy Management at Hof University of Applied Sciences (iwe).
The Sauerland native has a degree in civil engineering and also holds a master's degree in business psychology. He has more than 25 years of experience in the water industry and has been a lecturer at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management in Münster on the topics of organisational transformation, big data and communication since 2019. In the 1990s, he managed a landfill wastewater treatment plant himself and was deputy manager of a municipal waste landfill. From 2017 to 2019, he was also Chairman of the German association KOMMUNAL 4.0 e.V. and played a key role in the digitalisation of the water sector.
His research focuses on innovative system controls, user acceptance, the integration of new knowledge into everyday working life and the utilisation of operational knowledge for digital solutions.
