In the context of increasing urban densification and the associated challenges such as heavy rainfall events and urban overheating, the concept of the sponge city emerged, which aims to capture, store and utilise rainwater. Despite the need for such solutions, there is a lack of specialised knowledge and digital skills to effectively plan and implement these projects.
The aim of the project is to develop and implement a training programme that provides specialists and managers from water management, urban planning and related fields with the necessary knowledge and digital skills to effectively plan, implement and manage sponge city concepts. In particular, the programme aims to promote the use of digital methods and tools in the implementation of sponge city concepts.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including the basics of the sponge city, digital simulation and analysis tools, water management planning, sustainable urban development and project management. The content is supplemented by practical exercises, case studies and the use of software tools to provide a realistic learning experience.
